Dr. Lescauskas brings experience of the world to Sublette county. Raised in Lithuania, he moved to Chicago during high school, completed medical school there, and went on to complete his family medicine residency in Miami. He has practiced hospital medicine for nearly a decade, managing a broad spectrum of illnesses—including critically ill patients—across both major urban centers and critical access hospitals.
Driven by the opportunity to build something new in Sublette County, Dr. Lescauskas demonstrated his commitment to the program early on by driving 1,000 miles from Texas to attend the hospital’s ribbon-cutting ceremony—well before his credentialing process was even complete. His upcoming relocation will help establish the county’s first hospital with a fully staffed, local hospital medicine team.
"To give good care to patients in small hospitals without specialty support, hospitalists must have a level of experience to recognize and treat things less experienced physicians often miss. Dr. Lescauskas brings this experience to Sublette County, as well as an energy and team spirit that are inspiring and contagious," says Program Director Dr. Larry Birger.
Dr. Lescauskas particularly enjoys rural medicine because it demands the full spectrum of clinical practice, requiring him to step up as a cardiologist, nephrologist, neurologist, or critical care physician whenever needed.
In his free time, he enjoys outdoor sports, weightlifting, fine food, sharing a laugh with friends, and spending time with his girlfriend.
