Long-Term Care Facility
The preliminary plans include 33,000 square feet for a new long-term care facility with 46 total beds. This includes:
A secured Memory Care Unit (a specialized unit for dementia care) with 10 beds
More private rooms
Shared dietary and maintenance facilities for the long-term care facility and hospital (Sharing helps reduce costs.)
Having a hospital-based long-term care facility would give its residents access to all medical services: 24/7 medical care - including lab, diagnostic imaging and emergency services.
Conceptual Plans
Why is a new facility important?
Building a long-term care facility keeps our elderly close to their families, friends and support system. The new facility will have 46 total beds, including 10 memory care beds. The benefits of the new design include more private rooms and the additional services in terms of memory care.
Right now there are only 12 memory care beds located in Rock Springs for the three county region (Sublette, Sweetwater, and Teton counties). The new secured Memory Care Unit (a specialized unit for dementia care) will include 10 beds.
Built in 1978, the Sublette Center's building is aging and has many outdated systems, requiring constant repair.
The formation of a Special Hospital District would give the critical access hospital project the funding necessary to build a new long-term care facility with a Memory Care Unit. Sublette Center cannot afford to build a new facility on its own and, as a nonprofit, cannot access the U.S. Department of Agriculture loan.
