Celebrating Local Artists Mae Orm and David K. Klaren at the New Sublette County Hospital

For the past two years, local artists Mae Orm and David Klaren have been working on two stunning mixed-media pieces that will be permanently displayed at the new Sublette County Hospital. These collaborative works, funded by a grant through the Wyoming Art Council in partnership with Sublette County Health, capture the beauty and essence of our region while adding a unique artistic touch to the hospital's design.

The pieces, titled “Resilient Vitality” and “Ascend,” are a testament to the duo’s craftsmanship and creativity. “Resilient Vitality,” an 8' x 5' mosaic, will be placed above a fireplace in the senior living section, while the 4' x 6' “Ascend” will grace a seating area, offering visitors a moment of peace and reflection. Both pieces are made from a combination of mosaics, ceramics (featuring clay sourced locally from Willow Lake), oil and acrylic paintings, wood carvings, and encaustics. The intricate frames were custom built by David Klaren, further enhancing their depth and presence.

Before being installed in the new hospital, the works are currently on display at the Pinedale Library until November 2nd. The exhibit features original gridded plans, photos of the works in progress, and other related pieces, offering a behind-the-scenes look into the process of creating these large-scale installations.

“We’ve had many people say you have to see them in person to truly appreciate them,” Mae shared after a well-attended reception at the library. The event drew a crowd eager to view the impressive pieces and learn more about the journey that brought them to life. “The big question of the night was, ‘How much do they weigh?’ We’ll need to figure that out,” Mae joked.

The library exhibit provides a wonderful opportunity to get a preview of these significant works before they find their permanent home in the new Sublette County Hospital. Be sure to stop by before November 2nd to experience the art firsthand and appreciate the incredible talent that resides in our community.
